Myrias Optics, Inc. has been awarded $1.5 million from the National Science Foundation’s Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Fast-Track Program to develop and manufacture polarization-controlled metasurfaces operating at visible and near-infrared wavelengths.
This project will be conducted in collaboration with Dr. Amir Arbabi, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The resulting polarization-controlled metasurfaces promise major advances in machine vision and biomedical imaging through unprecedented miniaturization at visible wavelengths, while also enhancing bandwidth and performance for data and telecommunications in the near-IR spectrum.
Leveraging its proprietary all-inorganic additive manufacturing platform, Myrias utilizes nanoimprint lithography with nanoparticle dispersion inks to achieve high-efficiency polarization splitters (>90%). This approach enables high-throughput, full-wafer fabrication with cycle times on the order of minutes, setting a new standard for scalable production of advanced optical components.
